Monday Night Anarchy
June 20, 2011
Scotiabank Place - Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
Attendance: 16,605 (81%)

“Headstrong” blares through the darkened arena as fireworks shoot from the stage, and the crowd goes crazy. Josh Daniels and Scott Michaels welcome everyone to Ottawa, just six days away from Turning Point, where tonight, The Hart Dynasty will put their Tag Team Titles on the line against The American Wolves in a match that should be one of the toughest matches the champions have had since starting their second reign.

The commentary is interrupted as HWL Owner, Peter Bradshaw, makes his way out to the ring. Bradshaw says that for a week, he has been reviewing the tape of last week’s main event, and he still can’t wrap his head around the situation that’s taking place between Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes and Abyss. Bradshaw says that he has tried to do everything by the book - and to be fair - as far as naming a true number one contender for the Heavyweight Title. He says that Cody Rhodes did, indeed, win the match last week; but that Bradshaw wasn’t sure if he would let the victory stand due to the fact that Abyss attacked both men during the match. So, Bradshaw says that, after spending this week reviewing things, and trying to come up with a plan that will make not only the three of them happy, but will give the HWL fans something they’d want to see, he has finally come up with it. Bradshaw announces that, this Sunday night, at Turning Point, Abyss will defend the Heavyweight Title in a TRIPLE THREAT MATCH against both Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton!

After letting the crowd quiet down from the excitement, Bradshaw says that he has also decided to make tonight a “Pick Your Poison” night. He says that all three men will have the chance to choose the opponents of the other men in Sunday’s main event. Bradshaw thanks the crowd for their time before leaving the ring as Josh Daniels and Scott Michaels contemplate what is going to happen later tonight…

AJ Styles pinned Colt Cabana with the Styles Clash in 0:04:37.
Rating: *** ¼

Tonight, the fans in Ottawa were on hand to see the return of “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles, who was coming back after suffering a hyper-extending his elbow three weeks ago, at Fully Loaded. Styles came out like a bolt of lightning tonight, using Ric Flair’s interference to bring Cabana outside the ring where he connected with a Styles Clash on the concrete floor! After bringing Cabana back into the ring, Styles locked in the Figure Four, and held the move for 25 seconds, while Cabana fought his way to the ropes. Though Cabana was able to get in little offense, the toll had been taken, and he quickly fell victim to another Styles Clash in the center of the ring. AJ Styles picked up a very impressive return victory here tonight.

Commercial Break

Coming back from the break, YOSHI TATSU is seen walking though the backstage area, and is approached by Alisha Hicks. Alisha asks what Tatsu’s reaction is to Kaz saying he thought fighting Yoshi would be the best chance to teach him something. Yoshi says that he has learned nothing from Kaz during their time as tag team partners. He says that Kaz always told him that they would be Tag Team Champions one day, and it never happened. He says that it wasn’t because of Yoshi, because he did everything he could to help get those belts. Yoshi says that he shut down after a while, because he was tired of hearing Kaz’s empty promises, and says that he can’t wait to get into the ring with Kaz this Sunday night.

[Pick Your Poison - Non-Title Match]:
Tommy Dreamer pinned Abyss with the Dreamer DDT in 0:12:12.
Rating: **
[Randy Orton & Cody Rhodes interfered against Abyss.]

“The Monster” Abyss was first up in tonight’s “Pick Your Poison” edition of Anarchy. As the Heavyweight Champion stood in the ring, Randy Orton appear on the titantron to introduce the champion’s opponent: “The Innovator of Violence” Tommy Dreamer! Dreamer made a bee-line for the ring, and was quickly planted with a belly-to-belly suplex as he got to his feet! From there, “The Monster” left off where these two men’s rivalry left off. The match went all over the ringside area, with Abyss controlling Dreamer, who had been gone since the Brutality event in January. Things were evened up as RANDY ORTON and CODY RHODES both made their way to the ring, trying to knock the Heavyweight Champion off his game. As Rhodes distracted the referee, Orton connected with a vicious chairshot to Abyss, that opened up a small gash on the top of his head. Throughout the match, drops of blood could be see falling to the canvas. Later in the match, Orton again tried to use a chair, but the referee grabbed it before Orton could swing, and quickly admonished Orton from ringside! But, behind the referee’s back, Cody Rhodes entered the ring and hit a low-blow to Abyss, that allowed Dreamer to hit the Dreamer DDT to pick up a huge, assisted victory!

After the match, Dreamer celebrated in the center of the ring as Rhodes looked on from ringside, and Orton watched the scene from the stage. Josh Daniels and Scott Michaels speculated as to if Orton and Rhodes had somehow formed a partnership to get the Heavyweight Title off of “The Monster”…

Commercial Break

Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly make their way to the ring as Anarchy returns from the break. Cole says that he wants to get two things off his chest. First, he tells O’Reilly that he’s ashamed of him for not coming out to the ring and helping Cole during his match against Alex Shelley. O’Reilly tries to give his reasoning, but is cut of by Cole, who tells him that O’Reilly was never a friend and was just using Cole to get stardom in the HWL. Cole then demands that O’Reilly leave the ring.

As O’Reilly leaves, Cole says that he wants to address Alex Shelley. He says that Shelley finally got what he wanted: a singles title in the HWL. Cole says that his title reign will be short-lived, because he would be instituting his “rematch clause” this Sunday, at Turning Point.

This brings out the X-Division Champion, who comes out to the ring and stands face-to-face with Cole. Alex Shelley says that Cole can never take the blame for anything, even after losing the title in a match where he demanded no one be at ringside. Shelley says that Cole knows he can’t beat him without having someone there to catch him when he screws up. Shelley says that Cole just caused himself a friendship and any hope that someone in the back will save his ass this Sunday. Shelley accepts the challenge for a rematch, but under the condition that the match is a LADDER MATCH. Shelley drops the microphone and leaves the ring as Cole stands, stunned, in the center of the ring.

[HWL Tag Team Title Match]:
The American Wolves (Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards) defeated The Hart Dynasty (David Hart Smith & Tyson Kidd) when E. Edwards defeated D.H. Smith by disqualification in 0:15:40.
Rating: ** ¾
(The Hart Dynasty retained the HWL Tag Team Titles.)
[Natalya interfered against Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards.]

For weeks, both of these teams have been sharing very strong, passionate words between each other; hitting various nervous along the way, adding fuel to the fire that was building for this confrontation. This match was a very personal, brutal match, as both teams wanted to impose their will on the other. The Wolves came in with a huge chip on their shoulder, after being told that they would face the same fate as other teams that had tried to take the titles away from the Harts. And, the champions had the city of Ottawa behind them for this one. But, it seemed like the home-country support wasn’t enough to sustain a victory on their own. With the Wolves holding onto the advantage, Davey Richards connected with a power slam on Tyson Kidd, and went for the cover only to have Natalya slide Kidd’s boot onto the bottom rope, breaking up the pinfall. The crowd in Ottawa soon became mixed as they noticed that the champions were having a hart time putting away their challengers; and after Eddie Edwards hit Smith with a picture-perfect DDT and went for the cover, Natalya jumped onto the apron and broke up the three-count. But this time the referee had had enough, and quickly called for the bell! The match was awarded to the Wolves, but the Dynasty would keep the Tag Team Titles.

After the match, as the Wolves stood in the ring arguing with the referee, and The Hart Dynasty stood at ringside celebrating their title defense, PETER BRADSHAW made his way onto the stage. Bradshaw said that, for months, he had seen Natalya stand in the way of anyone having a decent match with the Hart Dynasty, especially when it came to the Tag Team Titles. Bradshaw said that, instead of ordering the match to restart, he had bigger plans in mind. Bradshaw then announced that, this Sunday night, at Turning Point, The Hart Dynasty would defend the HWL Tag Team Titles against The American Wolves… in a steel cage match! The Dynasty lost their minds as The Wolves looked on, smiling and applauding the decision, as Bradshaw made his way backstage…

Backstage, KURT ANGLE is seen with Alisha Hicks. Angle says that he doesn’t understand what’s going on inside Mr. Anderson’s head, causing him to come from behind and attack Angle out of nowhere two weeks ago. Pausing, Angle says that he does see why he’d do it, though, because Anderson is beginning to realize that he and AJ Styles are going nowhere in the HWL. Angle says that Styles picked up a victory tonight, but that Anderson was the one who got his shoulders pinned to the canvas last week. Angle says that Anderson just wants to make a name for himself again - or try to - and says that if Anderson wants a match at Turning Point, he’s got one…

[Pick Your Poison Match]:
Cody Rhodes pinned Matt Morgan after a Hotshot in 0:08:26.
Rating: ** ¾

Cody Rhodes came out to the ring, for the second “Pick Your Poison” match tonight, and waited to see who his opponent would be. Rhodes was shocked when a very angry, and bandaged Abyss appeared on-screen and announced that “The Blueprint” Matt Morgan would be Rhodes’s opponent! The crowd roared in cheers as Morgan made his way down the ramp and the match began. Rhodes and Morgan have had a lengthy history, dating back to the end of last year, when they were continually battling for the right to challenge Kurt Angle for the Heavyweight Title. Tonight, that fire was still there as Morgan wanted nothing more then to upend one of the challengers in Sunday night’s main event. Rhodes appeared to be dodging Morgan, but was able to get in some decent offense along the way. At the end of the match, Rhodes ducked a Big Boot attempt by “The Blueprint”, and used the ropes to hit the Hotshot. Rhodes grabbed a handful of tights as the referee counted to three!

After the match, Rhodes quickly rolled out of the ring as Morgan fumed with anger. Rhodes pointed to his head and laughed as he made his way up the ramp…

[Pick Your Poison Match]:
Randy Orton pinned Kurt Angle after hitting him with a steel chair in 0:13:24.
Rating: *** ½
[Mr. Anderson interfered against Kurt Angle.]

“The Viper” made his way down to the ring for tonight’s finale “Pick Your Poison” match, when Cody Rhodes - still laughing about the events that took place before the break - appears on-screen and announces Orton’s opponent as the former Heavyweight Champion, Kurt Angle! Orton instantly become upset, and determined, as Angle made his way to the ring. This was a hard-fought match for both men, but it became even more interesting as MR. ANDERSON came down to the ring. Anderson made sure to stay in the sight of Angle, his opponent at Turning Point, but it wasn’t enough to take Angle off his game completely. Angle attempted an Angle Slam, only to have Orton slide off his back and duck out of the ring for a breather. As the referee gave Orton his 10-count, Anderson entered the ring and smashed Angle in the back of the head with a steel chair! Orton quickly slid back into the ring and covered Angle, but the former champion got his foot on the ropes, breaking the pinfall. Orton continued to work over Angle’s neck and back, before hitting an RKO in the center of the ring. He went for the cover, and just as the referee’s hand was to hit the canvas, Angle kicked out! Irate, Orton got into the referee’s face as Mr. Anderson slid another chair into the ring. Orton backed away from the referee as Anderson came around and jumped onto the apron, catching the ref’s attention. With no one watching, Orton grabbed the steel chair and paced as Angle slowly got to his feet, before connecting with a horrible shot to Angle’s head. Orton threw the chair outside the ring as Anderson jumped off the canvas, and made the cover. The referee counted three and awarded the match to Orton as Anderson watched, satisfied from the ramp.
