October 15, 2012 - Monday Night Anarchy - Phoenix, AZ

Attendance: 5,158

A highlight package from Downfall plays. Josh Daniels welcomes everyone to Phoenix and is joined at ringside by Scott Michaels. Tonight starts the journey to the United Kingdom, as the first set of opening round matches for the Wicked Games Tournament will take place.

John Cena’s music hits as he comes out to a chorus of boos, and the fans chanting “John Cena sucks!” Cena walks down the ramp, entering the ring, and grabbing a microphone. He stands in the ring, letting the crowd continue their jeers. Finally, Cena tells everyone to shut their mouths. Cena says he has come out to the ring because last night was an important night for him. Last night, Cena put an end to a losing streak that had everyone in the HWL praying would continue. Cena reminds everyone that CM Punk was the man that fell victim last night. But this isn’t about the loser, it’s about the winner – John Cena. Cena says that last night’s victory put him at the top of the list for a Heavyweight Title shot. So, he is out here tonight, issuing a challenge to Kurt Angle.

Instead of Kurt Angle, Randy Orton appears on-stage. He walks down the ramp, getting a mixed reaction from the crowd. He enters the ring and grabs a microphone of his own before facing down Cena. Orton tells Cena that he’s getting ahead of himself. Orton congratulates Cena on beating CM Punk but says that it’s something Orton has already done. The only difference is, Orton beat Punk for the Heavyweight Title. Orton says that Cena can come out here and demand a title shot all night long, but the one thing that makes Orton the rightful challenger to Angle’s title is the fact that last right, inside this ring, Orton defeated Angle.

Before Cena can respond, Peter Bradshaw makes his way onto the stage, with a microphone in-hand. Bradshaw says that both men have compelling points, so it’s hard to say who has the biggest claim to the Number One Contender’s spot. Bradshaw says there’s really only one way to solve this problem. He signs a Number One Contender’s Match for tonight’s main event, between Randy Orton and John Cena!

Commercial Break

Shannon Moore pinned Adam Cole after a small package in 11:22.
Rating: *
¼**

Last night, Adam Cole made a statement in a very dominating victory over Mike Sydal. Tonight, however, he stepped into the ring with tougher competition in “The Prince of Punk”. Cole’s eagerness to inflict pain backfired and Moore found himself in control for most of the match. Cole did attempt a comeback, but Moore countered a clothesline attempt into a small package, surprising Cole with the victory. After the match, Moore celebrated on the turnbuckle as Cole got up to his feet. Cole attacked Moore from behind and threw him outside the ring. Cole continued his assault on Moore at ringside, eventually throwing Moore into the barricade. Cole stomped up the ramp as Anarchy goes to commercials.

Commercial Break

Backstage, Leva Bates and Brie Bella are seen entering the arena. Leva has athletic tape around her shoulder. Brie says that it was a shame how Kaitlyn won last night. She says she was sure that Leva would regain the title. Leva stops and looks at Brie. She asks Brie why she stood by and did nothing to help her back into the ring last night. Leva says that her shoulder hurts like hell, but that it doesn’t compare with the embarrassment she has to live with knowing she was counted out. Leva tells Brie that it’s her fault Leva isn’t champion tonight. Leva walks off, leaving Brie standing alone, as we go to the ring.

ODB defeated Nikki Bella by disqualification in 4:29.
Rating: ¼
*

ODB has taken the women’s division by storm since debuting a number of weeks ago. She came into this match undefeated and picked up a big victory – with Kaitlyn – over Leva Bates and Brie Bella last week. Tonight, she squared off with the former Women’s Champion, Nikki Bella. This match came to an abrupt end as BRIE BELLA came down to ringside, hitting ODB in the back as she was running into the ropes. Brie started talking trash as she backed up the ramp. But when ODB left the ring, Brie turned and ran toward the back, leaving her sister dumbfounded in the ring.

Wicked Games Tournament – Round One
Claudio Castagnoli pinned Colt Cabana after an airplane spin toss in 4:48.
Rating: *
¼**

Claudio Castagnoli kicked off the 2012 Wicked Games Tournament with a very quick and dominating victory over Colt Cabana. “Double C” advances to the quarterfinals and awaits his opponent: either Brutus Magnus or CM Punk.

Commercial Break

Returning from the break, Jesse Neal congratulates Shannon Moore on his victory earlier tonight. They shake hands before departing in opposite directions. As Neal turns a corner, TED DIBIASE blindsides him. DiBiase sends Neal into the concrete wall before hitting a number of stomps. DiBiase says he doesn’t care about winning or losing; he just wants to kick Neal’s ass. DiBiase walks away as Neal struggles for breath.

-Also backstage, Alisha Hicks congratulates Kevin Steen on retaining the X-Division Title last night. Steen says that Alisha is the only one today who has appreciated Steen’s efforts in the ring. He says that he’s been in the business for a number of years, and since Day One, has done things no one thought he could do. He says he knows what he’s doing inside the ring and no one can take that from him. Steen says that for so long everyone looked up to Shawn Michaels. They labeled him “Mr. WrestleMania” and “The Showstopper”. Steen says he’s better than Michaels and call himself “Mr. Wrestling”. Steen says he’s the X-Division Champion, but after Wicked Games, he’s going to be the Number One Contender for the HWL Heavyweight Title. As Steen starts to walk off, he is stopped by CHRISTOPHER DANIELS, who says they have unfinished business that will be taken care of next week.

Commercial Break

Kazarian & Luke Gallows defeated Ted DiBiase & Eric Young when L. Gallows pinned T. DiBiase with the Gallows Pole in 29:42.
Rating: *
½**

During the match, it was announced that the winners would receive a title match at Wicked Games. This match certainly did have the crowd on their feet, as this match went nearly half-an-hour. Kazarian and Luke Gallows really showed that they are worthy of more attention than they’ve gotten lately. Of course, it didn’t hurt their changes when JESSE NEAL appeared on-stage, with bandaged ribs, calling out DiBiase. The distraction allowed Gallows to hit the Gallows Pole for the victory.

Commercial Break

A preview for next week’s edition of Anarchy is shown. X-Division Champion Kevin Steen will take on Christopher Daniels in First Round action. And Rami Sebei will face off against either Randy Orton or John Cena for the right to move on in the Wicked Games Tournament.

Wicked Games Tournament – First Round
CM Punk pinned Brutus Magnus with the GTS in 11:56.
Rating: ** ½

Twenty-four hours after coming up short against John Cena at Downfall, CM Punk got back on the winning track with a victory over Brutus Mangus. The victory sets up a quarterfinals match between Punk and Claudio Castagnoli – who won earlier tonight – in the Wicked Games Tournament.

Commercial Break

Number One Contenders Match
John Cena pinned Randy Orton after a backslide in 9:01.
Rating: *
½**

These two men made their cases for being Number One Contender known at the start of the show. Throughout the match, both men did everything they could to avoid the other’s finishing maneuver. Cena pushed off Orton during an RKO attempt; Orton countered an F-U into a DDT. Eventually both men found their way outside, where Cena rammed Orton into the ring post before hitting a suplex onto the concrete floor! Back inside the ring, with a shot at the title match at Wicked Games, Orton fought back and looked poised to hit the RKO, but Cena countered it with a backslide and, using his feet on the ropes, got the 1-2-3! After the match, Cena quickly rolled out the ring, saying “You can’t see me,” to Orton. The main event for Wicked Games has been set!
